Corolla has Gained a Lot of Attitude for 2014

2014 corollaWhen Toyota said it would transform the Corolla for 2014, they were serious. The 2014 Corolla bears a close resemblance to the 2015 Corolla Furia Concept unveiled earlier this year. The new look may be new for the Corolla but definitely conveys the quality that Toyota is known for. With more younger buyers joining the car buying market, the importance of building cars that appeal to this demographic is being seen in almost every brand of vehicle available. Younger buyers want style, function and above all, fuel-efficiency, and the new 2014 Corolla delivers on all points.

While the new Corolla appears much bigger than the current version, the biggest increase is in the length and the wheel span, which have both been increased to provide a roomier interior and more aggressive look for the Corolla. The body has also been trimmed to create a cleaner, sleeker look that adds even more attitude to the new Corolla. From the new LED headlights to the rounder rear corners, there is nothing Toyota has not improved. This includes an available new version of the continuously variable transmission with seven fixed rations, an Eco mode to save fuel, and Sport mode for better acceleration and throttle response. From the first look, Toyota has succeeded in creating a better version of one of the most popular cars Toyota has ever offered.

Summer is Here, Can Your Vehicle Handle the Heat?

take care of your vehicleAlthough a trip to your local automotive service center or dealership may not be high on the list of exciting summer road trips, it can save you time, money and stress. Your car, truck or SUV is one of the largest investments you will make, so helping it retain its value and provide you with reliable transportation should be very important. While it may seem like you spend a lot of time and money maintaining your vehicle, it will provide a great return on your investment. There is nothing worse than setting out on a summer road trip and having it cut short when your vehicle breaks down. The following information can help you make sure that your vehicle is as ready for summer as you are!

Replenish Your Fluids

summer oil change

Temperature fluctuations when seasons change can be hard on a vehicle’s fluids, especially oil. Your engine works harder to circulate cold oil throughout your engine in the winter and summer heat can lower oil’s viscosity causing it not to work as well as it should. This is why oil changes are so important and should be performed at regular intervals or at the least, when the seasons change if you drive less than 14,000 miles per year. During a routine oil change, your service center technician will check all of your vehicle’s fluids including those in the braking system and transmission. These checks allow your mechanic to see the early signs of any problems and take care of them before they end up being a costly repair.

Enjoy a Summer Shower

keep your car cleanWhile you have your garden hose out why not give your car, truck or SUV a bath? While ideally you should use a detergent designed just for washing vehicles, in a pinch you can dilute a small amount of dish soap in a bucket of water. Most laundry or dish soaps contain ingredients that will strip away the wax on your vehicle leaving your finish open to fading and sun damage. The next time you are at your local discount store, pick up a bottle of car wash concentrate, it is inexpensive and will last for at least a summer of washes. Make sure you do not wash your vehicle in direct sunlight either, this can cause water spots that can be difficult to remove. When you are giving your vehicle its final rinse, be sure to wash inside the wheel wells to flush out any accumulated salt, dirt or other debris.

While these are only two of the many things you can do to get your vehicle ready for summer, they are probably the most important. These basics can save you from costly repairs and help you get more money out of your vehicle when it is time to sell it or trade it in on a new vehicle. Permian Toyota’s Service Department is staffed by professionals who can handle any auto repair or maintenance needs you have. You can even schedule a service appointment online. If you are in the market for a new car, truck or SUV, Permian Toyota can also help you find just the right one. Toyota Reaches Milestone in Hybrid Sales

2000 toyota priusBack in 2000 when Toyota introduced the Prius, they were already ahead of their time. While there was a trend toward more fuel-efficient and lower emissions vehicles, the need was not as urgent as it is today. There were only 5,562 Priuses sold its first year. As a testament to the changing times, over 147,000 Priuses were sold in the United States alone in 2012. The Prius line has also multiplied over the past 13 years and now offers a variety of trims and sizes that make the Prius attractive to both the single commuter and family alike. Worldwide, there are up to 19 different hybrids available from Toyota including the Prius, Camry Hybrid, Highlander Hybrid and Avalon Hybrid. The 5 million hybrid sales include 2 million here in the United States alone, with California being the state with the highest hybrid population.

There are a few reasons that hybrids are a great choice. The first reason of course being fuel economy. With fuel prices higher than ever with no great changes in sight, the ability to have a vehicle that is not completely depending on gasoline can help save consumers a lot of money over the course of hybrid ownership. Toyota reports that their hybrid vehicles have accounted for 3 billion less gallons of gasoline used globally. The second reason is it leaves less of an impact on the environment. With a hybrid vehicle producing zero emissions when in full electric mode, Toyota estimates there have been 34 fewer tons of C02 emitted thanks to its hybrid vehicles around the world. Whatever reason consumers choose a Toyota hybrid, they are providing a better future for the world as a whole.

If You Commute to Work, Toyota has the Vehicles for You

aaaAre you one of the 86 percent of Americans that cannot or do not use public transportation? If you are, chances are that fuel-efficiency and driving ease are two of the most important things you look for in a vehicle. AAA, the American Automobile Association, has been providing commuters and travelers with valuable information and services since 1902. While GPS has taken the place of some services that AAA provides, such as customized travel maps, there are still 51 million people in the United States that take advantages of their towing, travel and other services through any one of their 51 locations across the nation. Their experience in auto travel gives them the expertise to award many automakers for their travel and commuting benefits. This year AAA chose the Toyota Prius and Toyota Highlanders as two vehicles that are rated the “Best for Commuters”.

toyota prius On average, commuters spend five to six hours a week in their vehicle just driving to and from work. Considering fuel prices as well, a vehicle that does not get good fuel economy can essentially be a cut in pay if you are filling up more than once or twice a week. You also want a vehicle that provides you with the convenience of comfort features to make the drive a little more enjoyable. The Toyota Prius was chose as the “Best Compact” for commuters based on its size and fuel-efficiency. The Prius also has an advantage, like all Toyotas, of having a long list of standard features like Bluetooth, a USB port and an toyota highlanderavailable navigation system. The Prius also ranks among the highest in fuel-efficiency thanks to its Synergy Drive Hybrid technology that takes advantage of stop and go driving with a regenerative braking system. If you have a family and need a vehicle that is both an efficient daily driver and can handle passengers and cargo all the time, AAA suggests the “Best SUV/Crossover” for commuters, the Toyota Highlander. The Highlander is not just great looking and spacious, AAA found it to be particularly easy to drive for its size. Maneuverability is a big plus with any commuter that has to park in a crowded lot or parking garage. Even with all the passenger room the Highlander provides, it is still easy on the fuel budget. It also has a long list of standard features that include many entertainment and convenience features.

If you want to learn more about how the Prius and Highlander can help make your drive to work or anywhere else easier on the budget and more enjoyable, please visit our website at www.PermianToyota.com. Consumer Reports Names 3 Toyotas to “Best Under 25K” List

toyota motor companyWhile it is no surprise that three Toyotas have made it to one of Consumer Reports “best” lists, the fact that they are all under $25K supports Toyotas goal of providing great cars that are affordable. With the average price of a new vehicle closer to $35K nationwide, the ability to give customers a choice of value-priced vehicle says a lot about an auto manufacturer’s commitment to taking care of their customers. Perhaps this is the reason that Toyota has some of the most loyal customers of any automaker. Another great feature of the three Toyotas under $25K are that they are not all subcompact vehicles, with a choice of a Matrix, Corolla or Camry, you have the choice of a compact, small or mid-size sedan to fit your needs. The Corolla LE, Matrix S and Camry LE offer a large amount of standard features, and are not just affordable to purchase they are affordable to own.

The 2013 Toyota Camry LE has been America’s favorite mid-size sedan for longer than 2013 toyota camrysome of the members of its competition have been in production. It is not just affordable, but like the Corolla, has a low cost of ownership and a great reliability history. With its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and 6spd automatic transmission the Camry offers up to an average estimated fuel economy of 25 mpg city/35 highway. Toyota Steps Up Again to Aid Hurricane Sandy Relief

permian toyotaToyota contributes to many organizations and sponsors just as many programs to provide more opportunities to the public. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Toyota is coming to the plate once again with additional donations to aid the volunteers trying to help those affected return to some type of normal life again. Soon after the disaster, Toyota made a contribution of nearly $1 million dollars in funds and vehicles to help aid in transportation for volunteers and help with the cleanup. Toyota is again showing it cares about the citizens and communities in the United States by continuing to donate to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort.

On March 1, Toyota donated the use of 19 vehicle to the Northeast Region of the Red Cross’s Disaster Relief division. As part of their local effort to help one of the most devastated areas, Bay Head, New Jersey, a new 4Runner was donated to the Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church to assist with their mission to help rebuild the city. These vehicles were donated in addition to five vehicles that were donated directly after Hurricane Sandy. The most recent donations contribute an additional $100,000 in aid for the area. Without the donations from Toyota and other organizations, the volunteer teams that are working to rebuild the area would not be able to accomplish as much as they can in a short period.

toyota disaster relief helpThis is not the first time that Toyota has come to the aid in disaster relief. Back in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina destroyed countless communities and lives in the Gulf Coast, Toyota stepped up immediately to pledge at least $5 million dollars to the relief efforts in the wake of the disaster. While many disaster relief efforts, including the Red Cross Disaster Relief are funded by donations and government funds, sometimes it takes much more than they can provide to assist those that suffer the effects of these disasters. With the generous contributions of companies like Toyota, the job of helping return ravaged areas to their pre-storm livability is made much easier.

Toyota has a commitment to many things, from helping communities and people in need, to providing programs to help teens and adults become safer drivers. If you are looking for a new or used Toyota, Permian Toyota can help you find a great vehicle to fit your budget and needs. Buying a Toyota not only provides you with a great vehicle, but it provides you with a sense of pride that you have chosen to purchase a vehicle from a company as philanthropic as Toyota.

Toyota’s 830hp Hybrid Racecar is Fast and Fuel Efficient

One would normally not associate fuel efficiency and auto racing, but it is starting to see toyota prius racecarthe benefits of hybrid technology. Over the past few years the number of alternative fuel vehicles has increased, especially in long-distance endurance races. Toyota has led the way in hybrid technology for passenger vehicles since introducing the Prius in 2000, so it should be no surprise they are taking that technology to the racetrack as well. While you may be envisioning a track full of Priuses dressed up to look like racecars, that is not at all what hybrid racing is.

toyota hybridThe Toyota TS030, from the outside, does not look much different than any other endurance racecar does. It looks like the typical racecars seen in the United States in such races as the Indianapolis 500 and races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. While the body may be similar, what powers the TS030 is very different. Hidden under the fiberglass body is a 3.4-liter 530 horsepower V8 engine and an electric “super-capacitor” system that adds an additional 300 horsepower. The system is recharged by the same regenerative braking technology used in Toyota passenger cars. Toyota’s hybrid powerhouse was the winner of five major endurance races in 2012 including races held in Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Fuji. For 2013, Toyota will be upgrading both the powertrain of the TS030 and the chassis to comply with a new weight limit which is 33 pounds lighter than last year. Toyota’s biggest competition currently is Audi with its diesel-powered hybrid technology.

toyota ts030 hybrid

While endurance racing seems a good fit for hybrid technology, it also allows Toyota to put it to the test that endurance racecars provide. Endurance racing, unlike other types of auto racing, puts more emphasis on finishing the race than finishing the race first. With the long distances of these races, the hybrid engines allow them to not only save on fuel-cost, but also save on time by not having to stop to refuel as often. The hybrid engine also provides these cars with better acceleration out of tight turns because of the continuous power level of the electric motor. Typical gasoline-powered engines need more fuel to produce more power, but the hybrid motor generates the same amount of power no matter the speed of the vehicle. All of these factors together seem to provide a winning combination for Toyota to be a strong competitor in 2013.

While you will not find one of these 830 horsepower high-tech racecars for sale at your local dealer, you can still take advantage of Toyota’s hybrid technology. Whether you want a more compact vehicle like the Prius c, the full-size luxury of an Avalon or the room of a Highlander, Toyota offers a hybrid version of all of them, as well as a Camry hybrid. Whether you want a hybrid or a gasoline-powered vehicle, Permian Toyota has a great selection of both new and used vehicles. You can search our inventory online, then contact us with any questions you may have. If you are in the market for a new car, no matter if it is a hybrid or traditional gas-powered vehicle, let Permian Toyota help you find just the right vehicle for you!
